Good morning,
We have a severe cold front coming through our area in the next few days that will bring some snow accumulations through Wednesday. We will have crews out today adding salt to the roadways before the snow falls to make the roadways as safe as possible. The good news is that the cold will not last long and will be gone by the weekend where we will see a warmup in temperatures. The bad news is that the road salt will only be effective above 15 degrees with sunlight to assist with the activation. Wednesday evening through Thursday is going to be the coldest with wind chills in the single digits to below zero temperatures. This is the window where the roads will be most hazardous, so please stay at home if all possible. We will continue to monitor the conditions and adjust our work crews accordingly to make any travels as safe as possible.
What to Expect
Light snow will begin developing Tuesday afternoon and continue through Wednesday morning, becoming heavier at times. Snow showers may linger through Wednesday afternoon.
The heaviest amounts will stay north of I-40.
Some rain may mix in at times towards the TN/AL state line.
Travel impacts will likely develop Tuesday evening and continue into Wednesday.
After the snow, bitterly cold temperatures will set in through the end of the week

Snow totals will likely change some prior to the onset of the event.
Highest confidence for 3”+ is in northwest portions of Middle Tennessee.
Lowest confidence with snow totals is south of I-40, as rain may mix with snow at times, thus keeping snowfall accumulations lower.
