Hope everyone is staying warm! it looks like there is a very high possibility for a winter storm on this Friday through Saturday. Please take the proper precautions now to get prepare for the upcoming weather. Our crews will be out on Thursday applying the preliminary salt to all of our city streets before the snow starts. Crews will also be on standby throughout the weekend for additional salt applications and plowing where needed. Please do not park on the street due to it delaying and prohibiting the snowplows from servicing that area. Please delay any travels during this time frame due to the possible hazardous road conditions. We will be giving periodical updates throughout the weekend to keep you informed.

Forecast Details

● High confidence for travel impacts from snow starting mid-morning Friday

● 4 to 7 inches will be common with localized 8-inch amounts

● Most of the snow will fall late Friday morning through Friday evening

● Snow event expected with little or no rain, sleet, or freezing rain

● Snow tapering off Friday evening, but significant travel impacts will continue into Saturday morning

● Continued cold weather will result in slow melting. Partial thawing and refreezing could keep travel conditions hazardous for several days, especially in rural areas

Travel impacts will begin Friday morning and conditions will deteriorate significantly by Friday afternoon. Significant travel impacts will continue through Friday night and into Saturday. Improvement will be slow with continued cold temperatures. Rural roads may be impacted several days with thawing and refreezing creating icy conditions.

Timing: Snow will spread across the area from west to east Friday morning. Peak snowfall time will be mid-morning through the mid evening Friday. Areas Impacted: All of Middle Tennessee. Surrounding areas as well.

Confidence: Confidence is high that accumulating snowfall will occur across the area with significant travel impacts. Confidence is also high in the timing of this all-snow event. The main uncertainty is exact amounts which will vary across the Mid State.

● Cold air in place will make this an all-snow event with little or no mixed precipitation.

● 4 to 7 inches is the most likely range, but some areas will have less or more. Some adjustments of the totals should be expected with forecast updates.
