Tyne Pathway Project

Tyne Boulevard Pathway Project to extend bikeway Cyclists can ride from Radnor to Bison Meadow.

A concept that has been a vision for years is becoming a reality for the City of Forest Hills. City officials have been working very hard on obtaining grants, and the City recently has been awarded TDOT Transportation Alternative Program funds to start the Tyne Boulevard Pathway Project. The Pathway will connect the bike lanes located along Hillsboro Pike to the existing pathway system. This project will begin at the intersection of Tyne Boulevard and Hillsboro Pike/SR-106/US 431 and will terminate at the Tyne Blvd/ Robert E. Lee Drive intersection. This vital connection for cyclists and other Forest Hills residents will be ten feet wide and three-quarters of a mile long. It will connect to the existing John Lovell Bikeway on Otter Creek Road. The Pathway Project will also coincide with a possible future TDOT Multimodal Grant to improve the bicycle lanes on Hillsboro Pike at the Tyne Boulevard intersection. The initial part of the grant process will be contract guidelines, contractor selection, and construction plans. Several areas must be analyzed and addressed before a viable plan can be ready for construction, including creek crossings, easements, engineering, and safety guidelines. The city will work diligently to get the pathway constructed as soon as possible. At the end of this project, these efforts will create a beautiful pathway for residents and their families to enjoy.
